PROCESS OF MAKING GLASS (Task 3, Revision)

As an engineer, the way of our thinking must based on the why and how questions. If we imagine a bottle and plate glass and think as an engineer does, so why they are made is the question that most people can answer, but how the bottle and plate glass are made?. Do you can answer that ?. Then let’s see how.

The process of making bottle and plate glass isn't as simple as you use them. A bottle and plate glass made from some materials, only the shape makes them looks different. Glass is combinations of some materials such as sand, sode, limestone and a few of chemical materials (fixed alkalies or a metallic oxide). First, they mixed together in a furnace. Second, they heated in high temperature to make the particle united . The result of these is white sand. Third, the sand is heated again in high temperature in the furnace. While still molten, the sand is formed like bottle or plate. Fourth is the step to shape the molten sand. For having shape like a bottle, the molten sand is placed in removal mould. The process also in the high temperature. Then, it is cooled in the air in the normal temperature and removed from the removal mound. Next, to have a plate glass, we need more process. The sand must be heated again and mixed again with some chemical materials in their proportions. The process is happened in furnace. After that, these materials is flattened and cooled by rollers. Finally, they are ready to be sold.
